Local Partnerships
Sample Santiago
Sample Santiago invites pilgrims to experience Santiago through the people and businesses that make the city what it is. Created as a local project partnership, the self-guided experience connects pilgrims with independent local businesses, encouraging them to explore, taste, discover, and build a relationship with the city beyond the Cathedral and the traditional pilgrim route. For us, it is a beautiful way of helping pilgrims become guests of Santiago, rather than simply visitors passing through. Intersted in doing the tour? Click below to sign up.
A Horta da Avoa
A Horta da Avoa “Grandma’s Garden” is a local food initiative built around proximity, fairness, and community. Working with farmers around Santiago, they help bring fresh, seasonal produce to local families while supporting the people who grow it. Their work is rooted in a simple idea: that food can connect neighbors, strengthen local economies, and make communities healthier. You can visit the store on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00-16:00.
Voces Mujeres
Voces Mujeres “Women’s Voices” is a community created to support women who have experienced domestic violence and the isolation that can accompany it. Through friendship, conversation, shared resources, creative activities, and a safe place to belong, women are given space to process their experiences and find healing. If you want to support Voces Mujeres, you can buy soap created by these women at A Horta da Avoa or O Camiño Empeza Agora.
One Collective
One Collective works alongside local communities around the world to create sustainable, community-led change. In Santiago, their work has helped support initiatives that strengthen local businesses, create opportunities for people, and encourage a more connected local economy. One Collective is the faith based non-profit that started Pilgrim House. We are grateful to partner with an organization that believes transformation can begin with something as simple and powerful as neighbors investing in their neighbors or pilgrims investing in pilgrims.
Apotheca
Apotheca is a Santiago-based nonprofit focused on strengthening the local social economy by investing in small businesses, entrepreneurs, and community initiatives. Their work connects local commerce with community transformation, from supporting neighborhood businesses and local farmers to creating opportunities for workshops and employment. We love the way Apotheca sees business not simply as commerce, but as a way of building a healthier, more connected community.
Soy el Camino
Soy El Camino is a Camino resource centered on helping people discover places and stories along the way. Its map connects pilgrims with locations connected to the Camino and invites them to explore the journey through a deeper lens. We are grateful to be part of a wider network of people who believe the Camino is more than a route to Santiago.
Global Partnerships
Canadian Company of Pilgrims
The Canadian Company of Pilgrims is a volunteer-run, non-denominational community supporting Canadians who are interested in the pilgrimage to Santiago.
Through its network of local chapters, events, education, resources, and pilgrim support, the organization helps people connect with the Camino both before and after they walk it. We are grateful for the opportunity to be connected with this wider community of pilgrims and Camino enthusiasts across Canada.
American Pilgrims on Camino
American Pilgrims on the Camino is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to supporting the Camino and the community of pilgrims who walk it. Their work includes supporting Camino infrastructure, training and supporting hospitaleros, bringing pilgrims together, and providing information and encouragement to those preparing for their pilgrimage.
APOC has helped Pilgrim House with infastructer and keeping it up to date, and running to continue to impact pilgrims. We value their commitment to community, service, gratitude, and simplicity, values that resonate deeply with our own approach to welcoming pilgrims.
Austrialian Friends of the Camino
The Australian Friends of the Camino is a volunteer community dedicated to sharing the Camino de Santiago with people across Australia and supporting pilgrims before, during, and after their journey. Through pilgrim gatherings, practical resources, credentials, hospitalero opportunities, and connections with Camino communities around the world, they help Australians discover that the Camino is much more than a walk, it is a community that continues long after arriving in Santiago. We are grateful for their friendship and for the ways they help keep that spirit of connection alive all the way from Australia to Galicia.
